The Puppetry Journal is the official magazine for the Puppeteers of America. It is published four times a year in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Only members of the Puppeteers of America receive this publication.


In 1930 Paul McPharlin published the Puppetry Yearbook. After 1937 the Yearbooks became the official publication of the Puppeteers of America. George Latshaw made the newsletter into the Puppetry Journal. Volume One appeared in July of 1949.
